	It was announced on February 26, 2020 that Honor Flights were being relaunched from Dubuque to Washington, D.C. for a larger group of military veterans. 			In December, 2021 the announcement was made that the honor flights would be resumed. Now called Honor Flight of Dubuque and the Tri-States, the program would hold two flights on May 23, and 24th. The flights would again be free to veterans. They would leave from Dubuque in the morning and return at night with priority given to the oldest veterans and those with certain health conditions. Fundraising was to be used to raise the estimated $600 to transport each veteran. Guardians who choose to travel with veterans were asked to contribute $500 to cover the cost of the flights. (8)

+The inaugural Honor Flight took place in May of 2005. Six small planes flew out of Springfield, Ohio taking twelve World War II veterans on a visit to the memorial in Washington, DC. In August of 2005, an ever-expanding waiting list of veterans led to the transition to commercial airline carriers with the goal of accommodating as many veterans as possible. Partnering with HonorAir in Hendersonville, North Carolina, the "Honor Flight Network" was formed.
