Heim came to the United States in 1865 and settled in Dubuque where, in 1866, he worked one year as a foreman for the Douglas-Langworthy Brick Manufacturing Company. He later worked in a similar capacity for Michael Schunk before establishing [[HEIM BRICK COMPANY]] in 1868. He was succeeded by his son, [[HEIM, John L.\|John L. HEIM]].		HEIM, John.
