(Carroll, IA, May 6, 1894--Dubuque, IA, July 10, 1950) Educated at Wheaton, Illinois and Lombard, Illinois, Hanger was the secretary of the [[DUBUQUE THRIFT PLAN]] and prominent in civic affairs in Dubuque. He was the assistant secretary to the [[UNIVERSITY OF DUBUQUE]] board of directors, secretary-treasurer of the board of trustees, member of the university's executive committee and a member of the Blue and White Club, a group of business and professional men who supported the university's athletic activities.

	In ~~1948,~~ Hanger was elected treasurer of the Dubuque Community Chest and served as ~~the~~ treasurer of ~~the Chamber of Commerce. He was assistant secretary to~~ the [[~~UNIVERSITY~~ OF ~~DUBUQUE~~]] ~~board of directors, secretary-treasurer~~ of the ~~board of trustees,~~ and a ~~member~~ of the ~~university's executive committee~~. He ~~was also~~ a member of the ~~Blue and White Club, a group of business and professional men who supported UD athletic activities. He was an officer of the [[DUBUQUE AUTOMOBILE CLUB]], chairman~~ of the ~~campaign committee for the Masonic Temple~~, ~~and the time of his death, was the secretary of the [[DUBUQUE THRIFT PLAN]]~~.		In 1938 Hanger was elected treasurer of the Dubuque Community Chest and served as treasurer of the [[DUBUQUE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE]]. In 1939 he was elected director of the Iowa Taxpayers Association and from 1932 through 1938 served as a director of the Federal Home Loan Bank in Des Moines. He served as a member of the advisory council of the Federal Home Loan Bank board in Washington, D.C. from 1935 to 1936.

			Among other affiliations, Hanger served one year as president of the Iowa Building and Loan League and had six years as chairman of its legislative committee. He was an officer of the [[DUBUQUE AUTOMOBILE CLUB]], secretary of the Chamber of Commerce, president of the [[ROTARY CLUB OF DUBUQUE]], and a member of the [[DUBUQUE GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB]]. In 1929 he served as campaign chairman of the building committee for the [[MASONIC TEMPLE]].
