	HAMM, Vernon. (State Center, IA Aug. 29, 1916--Rochester, MN, Jan. 2, 2001). After serving in [[WORLD WAR II]], Hamm worked as an architectural apprentice in Marshalltown and Cedar Rapids, Iowa. 	Hamm designed many Dubuque landmarks including the portside facility and Dubuque Welcome Center at the [[ICE HARBOR]]. He also designed the [[WASHINGTON PARK]] gazebo, new [[DUBUQUE CITY HALL]] entrances, and renovations to [[SACRED HEART CHURCH]]. He was instrumental in saving the [[OLD JAIL]] from demolition.		Hamm designed many Dubuque landmarks including the portside facility and Dubuque Welcome Center at the [[ICE HARBOR]]. He also designed the [[WASHINGTON PARK]] gazebo, new [[DUBUQUE CITY HALL]] entrances, and renovations to [[SACRED HEART CHURCH]]. He was instrumental in saving the [[OLD JAIL]] from demolition.
