	In 1969 Godsey joined Metropolitan Lodge 49 of the Masons of Iowa. He served the local lodge as Worshipful Master in 1975, 1976, 1999 and 2000. He was the secretary for eleven years. He served as junior grand steward of the Grand Lodge of Iowa in 1981-1982, junior grand warden in 1985-1986, and grand master of Masons in Iowa in 2002-2003. He was a member of the board of custodians of the Work for thirteen years and traveled throughout Iowa instructing brother Masons. He joined The Order of the Eastern Star and served four times as worthy patron with his wife, Bev, of Julien Chapter 125. He was a member of the Clinton Scottish Rite, Cedar Valley York Rite, St. Ignatius Conclave Red Cross of Constantine in Ced Rapids, Oxus Grotto-Dubuque, and Iowa Research Lodge.		Godsey was also a well recognized member of the Grand Lodge of Iowa. He began with the company in their San Francisco branch and then transferred to the [[JOHN DEERE DUBUQUE WORKS]] in 1964. He worked as a test engineer for three years before moving to Mannheim, Germany with his family as the company's liaison between the Dubuque Works and John Deere Mannheim.
