Glab was engaged in banking his entire adult life starting with work at the [[GERMAN AMERICAN SAVINGS BANK]] and later with [[AMERICAN TRUST AND SAVINGS BANK]] for fifty-three years. He began as the fourth man on a four-man team as a messenger. He was promoted to messenger janitor at the bank's original building at 18th and Central. He once remarked with the new position came a slightly higher salary with the duties of cleaning the building, washing windows and firing the furnace.
