	Giesen moved to Dubuque in 1986 to share with her husband the position of coordinator of the Peace and Justice Center at [[LORAS COLLEGE]]. They organized service trips to Appalachia, activism trips to Washington and efforts to raise awareness. During the racial tensions in Dubuque in 1991, the Geisens organized "Faces and Voices," a committee which led efforts to host a Human Relations Conference in Dubuque. Issues of rights and diversity were explored through dance, music, art and nationally recognized speakers.
