	In 1965, Flynn became involved in the Illinois Benedictine College Institute for Management. A member of the President's Advisory Council which he led from 1969-1971, Flynn and his wife served as the chair-couple of the first Educare Ball. He was named to the college's board of trustees in 1971 and retired from that position in 1994. Flynn also served as a member of the board of trustees of [[LORAS COLLEGE]] until 1994. An original planner of Edward Hospital, Flynn became the president of the hospital's board of directors when the facility was constructed in 1966. He was also active in supporting Benet Academy in Lisle, Illinois. In 1978, ~~Flynn~~ was the recipient of an Honoris Causa, degree of Doctor of Humane Letters from Illinois Benedictine College.
