	On May 22, 2015 Felderman saw a Western Express semi westbound on I-80 around 8:15 a.m. The driver allowed the vehicle to drift off of the right shoulder, striking the Dubuque Street overpass at mile marker 244, according to the Iowa State Patrol. Felderman saw the semi catch fire and with another bystander decided that they had to act before the fuel tank exploded. They saw one victim lying on the ground and pulled him away from the vehicle just as the fuel tank exploded.
