	DUBUQUE AND WESTERN RAILROAD. Officials of the Dubuque and Western Railroad announced in 1903 that two more electric lines would be constructed west from Dubuque in 1904. One of the lines ~~woyld~~ run through the northern part of the county; the other would pass through the southern ~~countes~~. The destination of the lines had not been determined. Officers of the company included [[KIENE, Peter\|Peter KIENE]], president; Jesse C. Bennett (New York), vice-president; Everett M. Mable (New York), ~~secretry~~; and [[EIGHMEY, Charles H.\|Charles H. EIGHMEY]], treasurer. (1)		DUBUQUE AND WESTERN RAILROAD. In 1857 $250,000 was obtained through bonds to purchase 2,500 shares of stock in the Dubuque and Western Railroad Company. In two years the stock was worth less than 25 cents on the dollar and was considered worthless a few years later. (1) Between 1857 and 1859, however, tracks were paid between Farley and Sand Springs. These became part of the Milwaukee Road. (2)

			Articles of incorporation were filed on January 23, 1902 in Clinton, Iowa for the railroad to be operated at a point in Dubuque County near Dubuque and then westerly to some point near Boone, Iowa. The company, headquartered in Clinton, was capitalized at $25,000 divided into 250 shares. Until the first annual meeting the officers were H. W. Seaman, president; C. W. CXhase, vice-president; A. M. Cooper, secretary and treasurer. (3)
