	CUTTER, Ephraim. (Tompkins County, NY--Dubuque, IA, May 14, 1886). Cutter came to Dubuque in 1851 and as a cabinet maker found work with H. H. Herancourt. He later worked for Corey & Pickerill, photographers, and learned the business. 			CUTTER, Ephraim. (Tompkins County, NY, May 18, 1823--Dubuque, IA, May 14, 1886). Cutter came to Dubuque in 1851 and as a cabinet maker found work with H. H. Herancourt. He later worked for Corey & Pickerill, photographers, and learned the business.

	Cutter went into the photography business with [[ROOT, Samuel\|Samuel ROOT]]. They worked together about ten years before Cutter opened his own studio. When Cutter died, [[MORHISER, William H.\|William H. MORHISER]], another local photographer, investigated the room of the deceased and his place of business in the same building and declared them unhealthy. The developing room had no ventilation, a cause of sudden death for several other photographers within the last five years. The coroner agreed with the statement.
