Located at 1473 Central, the Conlon Building was named in memory of the original owner, a man who owned a livery stable and cared for, among other horses, the famed [[NUTWOOD]]. It was later used for [[ANTHONY AUTO SALES, INC.]] Owned in 1969 by Maurice Humke, the building was in the process of remodeling for the offices of the Dubuque County Board of Education. It was then that a ceramic tile mural depicting the [[SHOT TOWER]], a [[MISSISSIPPI RIVER]] sidewheeler, and the [[FOURTH STREET ELEVATOR]] was applied to the front of the building.
