New page

CONLIN BUILDING. Located at 1473 Central, the Conlon Building was named in memory of the original owner, a man who owned a livery stable and cared for, among other horses, the famed NUTWOOD. It was later used for ANTHONY AUTO SALES INC.

Owned in 1969 by Maurice Humke, the building was in the process of remodeling for the offices of the Dubuque County Board of Education. It was then that a ceramic tile mural depicting the SHOT TOWER, a MISSISSIPPI RIVER sidewheeler, and the FOURTH STREET ELEVATOR was applied to the front of the building. (1)
