He was a diplomat of the American Academy of Pediatrics and practiced pediatrics in Dubuque for 45 years at Medical Associates. He was a member of the Tri-State Fliers, Dubuque Medical Society and AA. He served on the board of directors for the Gannon Mental Health Center, Dubuque Association of Children with Learning Disabilities and was a participant in The Big Brothers Program. He was an active member of [[~~SAINT~~ LUKE'S UNITED METHODIST CHURCH]], serving on several boards, and was a volunteer at the [[DUBUQUE ARBORETUM AND BOTANICAL GARDENS]] and the [[MINES OF SPAIN]].
