Realizing in 2023 that the project needed two years, the city rescinded its grant from the EDA in June, 2023 and the city council approved the application for the larger $7.7 million. The need to fund the remaining $21.6 million remained at issue with the possibility of issuing debt or devoting more state sales tax increment funding to the project. 			In April, 2024 city officials announced that the city secured the $8 million grant to help pay for the previously mentioned flood-mitigation project along the Bee Branch Creek. The project funded was expected to be the last major improvement for the overall watershed project. Completion was expected at the end of 2026. (65)
