Faber, Barbara. (Dubuque, IA, Feb. 27, 1910--Dubuque, IA, June 20, 1992). Co-founder, Mercy Hospital Service Club. Faber served in 1943 on the advisory committee of the Child Welfare Division of the Office of Civilian Defense. One of the problems arising out of WORLD WAR II had led to the establishment of a day nursery at AUDUBON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. (1) A director of Volunteer Effort of the Red Cross during the war, she had been one of the first in 1940 to take first aid lessons. (2) In 1944 she was the residential chairman of the Red Cross Fund Drive. (3) Faber helped establish the Mercy Hospital Service Club in 1948.

she also served as a member of the Senior and Junior DUBUQUE VISITING NURSE ASSOCIATION boards.
