ZUCKERMAN, Harvey. (Dubuque, IA, Oct. 23, 1931--Napa, CA, Aug. 24, 2015). Zuckerman graduated from DUBUQUE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL, attended LORAS COLLEGE and then graduated from Indiana University in 1953. He served in the US Army for two years after college. Harvey owned and managed ZUCKIE'S which was opened by his parents during WORLD WAR II to exclusively sell women's fashions.

Upon his return from military service in 1955, Zuckerman opened STEVENS SMARTWEAR on Seventh and Main STREETS. He operated CLOTHES HORSE (THE) on University Avenue during the 1960s and moved Stevens to KENNEDY MALL in 1970. ZUCKIE'S closed in January 1991.

Locally Zuckerman served on the boards of Congregation Beth EL, Salvation Army, Kennedy Mall Association, DUBUQUE AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, FINLEY HOSPITAL (THE), and the Downtown Merchants Association of which he served as president. He was also active in the United Way, Rotary Club, and DUBUQUE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA. In Napa, California he was a supporter of the annual Music in the Vineyards event.
