Upon his return from military service in 1955, Zuckerman opened STEVENS SMARTWEAR on Seventh and Main STREETS. He operated CLOTHES HORSE (THE) on University Avenue during the 1960s and moved Stevens to KENNEDY MALL in 1970. ZUCKIE'S closed in January 1991.
Locally Zuckerman served on the boards of Congregation Beth EL, the Salvation Army, Kennedy Mall Association, DUBUQUE AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, FINLEY HOSPITAL (THE), and the Downtown Merchants Association on which he served as president. He was also active in the United Way, Rotary Club, and DUBUQUE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA. In Napa, California he was a passionate supporter of the annual Music in the Vineyards event.
