TRI-TECHNICAL SYSTEMS. Software manufacturer. Owned by Dubuque natives David and Juliana Cox, the company began as a software manufacturer for music retailers. Programs were designed to handle such functions as inventory, point-of-sale, and instrument rentals, payments, and repairs.

Started in Oklahoma, the company was relocated in 1988 to California and then to Dubuque in 1990. In 1997, as the only software manufacturer addressing this unique niche market, the company's products were used in over seven hundred stores internationally.

In 2010 the company had three primary products: AIMsi, a complete point of sale (POS) inventory management, accounting and business software application; Active-e, an e-commerce application that produves a direct connection from a company website to AIMsi and features a secure shopping cart that downloads customer orders from the website to AIMsi; and PC Poll, a polling and programming software that helps businesses of all sizes collect and utilize information from electronic cash registers (ECRs).

The company in 2010 was located at 3162 Cedar Crest Ridge.
