TRAUSCH, Arthur N., Jr. (Dubuque, IA, Oct. 20, 1924--Dubuque, IA, Oct. 2, 2010). The son of Arthur Trausch, Sr. and Lillian (Reuter) Trausch, Arthur attended St. Mary's Grade School and graduated from LORAS ACADEMY. While waiting for his alternate West Point appointment, he attended Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, Mo. and joined the Reserves. He was called up and served with the 99th Infantry Division. Wounded in Germany, he received the Purple Heart. Upon his return, he graduated from the American Institute of Baking in Chicago.

In 1964 Trausch became the president of TRAUSCH BAKING COMPANY. The company was sold to G. Heileman Brewing Co. in 1976, and he became the president of the baking division and elected to the board of directors of the brewery. He also was elected to the Board of American Bakers Association, Quality Bakers of America (Sunbeam Bread), The W.E. Long (Holsum), Iowa Bakers Association and the Chicago Bakers Club.

Locally, Trausch was past chairman of the United Way and the Salvation Army Building Fund. He was the exulted leader of the ELKS CLUB, a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus Council 510 and served on the boards of the BOYS' AND GIRLS' CLUB OF GREATER DUBUQUE, CLARKE COLLEGE, LORAS COLLEGE, XAVIER HOSPITAL and Viterbo College, La Crosse, Wisonsin. He was a 60-year member of ST. COLUMBKILLE CATHOLIC CHURCH and served on many parish boards. He was a two-time president of the DUBUQUE GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB and was the founder and last original member of the 990 Club DUBUQUE SHOOTING SOCIETY.
