STRIBLING, Donald W. (Everett, WA, 1932--Dubuque, IA, July 30, 2015) Donald was a resident of Dubuque since 1970, when he was hired as a Speech Communications professor and director of the Loras Players at LORAS COLLEGE.

Donald served as director of the Loras Players from 1970 to 2000, while his wife Lauretta M. STRIBLING served as co-director and costumer. During those 30 years, they directed over one hundred plays and musicals and added Children's Theatre to the Loras Players repertoire. Many of the Children's Theatre productions went on tour to schools and professional theaters in the tri-state area. They also directed melodramas performed by the Loras College faculty and staff.

A lifetime interest in educational, regional, and community theater resulted in a script he co-authored with his wife, with music and lyrics by Paul HEMMER, titled JOE SENT ME! The production premiered at the Five Flags Theater in 1977, and was re-staged at the GRAND OPERA HOUSE in March of 2007 as the Striblings celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Donald spent a good part of his early life "treading the boards" in educational, regional, community theater, and summer stock. Some of his favorite roles were Don Quixote in "MAN OF LA MANCHA" (his wife's favorite), Elwood P. Dowd in "HARVEY", Leadville Johnny Brown in "THE UNSINKABLE MOLLY BROWN" and Charley Wykham in "WHERE'S CHARLEY?."

He was a member of the Iowa Communication Association (ICA) and was honored to receive their Outstanding Citizen Award in 1992. He also served many years as a judge for the Iowa High School Speech Association and as a coach and judge for College Forensics Tournaments.
