STONEHILL CARE CENTER. Dubuque's largest and only Catholic-operated nursing home. Established in 1978 and located at 3485 Windsor Avenue, Stonehill replaced St. Francis Home that could no longer meet safety and fire codes.

The X-shaped three-story building was designed by Durrant Architects of Dubuque for the SISTERS OF THE THIRD ORDER OF ST. FRANCIS OF THE HOLY FAMILY (OSF), the administrators of the facility. There were thirty-six semi-private and 178 private rooms.

n 2016 Stonehill announced the first Federally Qualoified Health Center dental clinic within a long-term care facility. Stonehill officials approached CRESCENT COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER about the possibility of expanding dental care. A feasibility study confirmed the need and Crescent received a $104,958 grant to fund the project through the Delta Dental IA Foundation in April 2015. (2) Stonehill renovated a vacant wing to dental suites and plans called for the first patients to be seen in the fall of 2016. (1)

The 1993 through 2014 Dubuque City Directory listed 3485 Windsor.
