SIGMAN, James. (Dubuque, IA, Aug. 21, 1931--Dubuque, IA, Oct. 18, 2009). The son of Allan SIGMAN and Irma S. (Steuck) Sigman, James married Shirley Leno in 1956. (1)

In 1949 he joined UNION PRINTING COMPANY and guided the firm during the years of URBAN RENEWAL in Dubuque. His meeting with Stan Accola, owner of HOERMANN PRESS (THE), led to the merger of the two companies in 1968 to UNION-HOERMANN PRESS. (2)

In 1992 James Sigman received the Silver Medal Award from the American Advertising Federation-Dubuque. The program was established to recognize men and women who have made outstanding contributions to the advertising industry. Annually, AAF Dubuque bestows this honor upon outstanding members of the local advertising community. (3)
