SAINT JOSEPH'S COLLEGE
From Encyclopedia Dubuque
Saint Joseph's College was founded by Archbishop John Hennessy on September 8, 1873. It was located along West 14th between Henion and Walnut STREETS. The college building erected in 1878 was found to be inadequate to handle the number of students and in 1884 a wing was added to the east side of the main building. In 1902 a new wing was erected on the west side of the main building. In 1910 to the west of the corridor and wing a Flemish Renaissance structure was erected to provide an auditorium and chapel. The college grounds covered ten acres.
