RESNICK, David. Resnick received a Master of Music Education degree from Northern Illinois University and a permanent professional teaching certificate from the State of Iowa. He studied saxophone in workshops with Dr. Eugene Rousseau, of Indiana College, and conducting in workshops with Dr. Thomas Lee, of UCLA.

Resnick came to Dubuque in 1984 and beginning in 1993 served on the Fine Arts faculty of CLARKE UNIVERSITY as a director of instrumental music. During his tenure, he held many leadership positions at the college and was selected as a presenter for the prestigious Mackin-Mailander Lecture Series. He was the conductor of the Clarke Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, and Woodwind Ensemble. He served as a clinician, adjudicator and guest conductor in Iowa, Illinois, and Nebraska. Along with his conducting duties, Resnick taught electronic music, orchestration/arranging, and instrumental technique courses. He also performed on the saxophone, clarinet, and piano in several professional groups in the Dubuque area.

As a composer, David Resnick published many works for band, choir, saxophone quartet, and string orchestra, as well as solo literature. His works were selected for honor festivals, community celebrations, and even highlighted on National Public Radio. He composed "A Bit of Heaven in Davenport," the official song of Davenport, Iowa.

Resnick's involvement in Dubuque community organizations included the Dubuque Arts Council, Dubuque Chamber of Commerce, the Langworthy Neighborhood Association, and the Grand Opera House. He was also a member of many professional and musical performance organizations and worked professionally with Paul HEMMER.

Resnick was elected to the Dubuque City Council in November 2007 as one of two at large members. As a member of the council, he was on the board of the Dubuque Metropolitan Area Solid Waste Agency, Dubuque Main Street, Operation New View, and the East Central Intergovernmental Association (ECIA). In 2011 he was again elected to the council.
