QUIGLEY, Catherine (Mrs. Patrick) (County of Leitrim, Ireland, Aug. 15, 1796-Dubuque, IA, Aug. 8, 1878). One of the first white women to cross the MISSISSIPPI RIVER into modem day Iowa, Mrs. Quigley offered her home for the celebration of the first Mass by Father Fitzsimmons of Galena.
