PURDY, James. (Adair County, IA, Dec. 4, 1938--Galena, IL, Oct. 27, 2010). Purdy worked for the Farm Bureau in Decorah, Iowa before moving to Dubuque to work as an accountant for the McGladrey CPA firm. He later became both a certified public accountant and a certified financial planner. He was the treasurer of the former DUBUQUE PACKING COMPANY and later was co-owner of Knapp & Purdy, CPAs.

Purdy was committed to the Rotary Exchange Program and worked with many exchange students over the years. He was an organizer of the Tri-State Estate Planning Council, served on the HERITAGE TRAIL board during its organization, and was a former member of the board of HILLCREST FAMILY SERVICES. He was a former treasurer of ST. LUKE'S UNITED METHODIST CHURCH.
