POOR, B. W. (Berlin, Washington Co., VT, Jan. 15, 1818--1903c.). Poor studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1844. He moved to Dubuque in June 1852 and in December opened his practice of law.

For six years he was one of the well-known law firm of Smith, McKindley & Poor. He was appointed Judge of Circuit Court to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Judge David S. WILSON in February 1869. He was later appointed Register in Bankruptcy and was commissioner of the United States Circuit Court in 1880.
