PIER & ACKERMAN. The 1883 and 1884-1885 Dubuque City Directory stated that this business, wholesale ice, was located at the southwest corner of 4th and Clay.
The 1886-87 Dubuque City Directory listed 399 Clay.
The 1890-91 Dubuque City Directory listed 379 Clay.
An article in the January 27, 1892 Dubuque Daily Herald mentioned that the company had placed 3,000 tons of ice in the ice house of the HEEB COMPANY (THE) and had a similar contract with the DUBUQUE PACKING AND PROVISION COMPANY.
Pier eventually purchased Ackerman's interest in the company. His company was purchased by CONLIN AND KEARN (1)
