NUGENT, Chris. (Dubuque, IA-- ) Chris Nugent, a graduate of WAHLERT CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL ad CLARKE COLLEGE, received the PRESIDENTIAL AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN MATHEMATICS AND SCIENCE TEACHING. The award, administered by the National Science Foundation, recognizes teachers whose innovative methods "bring science and math to life in the classroom." As part of the award, Nugent reeived $7,500 to use for staff development or new classroom materials at Fulton.

At the time of the award she was a teacher at FULTON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. She later became the math coordinator for the DUBUQUE COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT and then an elementary principal.
