NEW HORIZONS BAND. Sponsored in 2010 by the NORTHEAST IOWA SCHOOL OF MUSIC, the New Horizons Band was a non-auditioned concert band for adult musicians. The band was a member of New Horizons Music, an international music organization which promoted music making for adults aged fifty and older. This fastest growing portion of the population was felt to gain mental and social stimulation as well as other health benefits from involvement in such a program.

New Horizons Band began in the fall of 2009 with conductor John F. WOODIN and presented two or more public concerts annually. There was a twenty-five dollar membership fee per semester.
