Nagele, Frank. (Dubuque, IA--Dubuque, IA, Apr. 11, 1979). President, Local 289, American Federation of Musicians. Nagele served over twenty-five years as the president of the local musicians union. His work was occasionally dangerous with a death threat being issued once. Another time he was the person responsible for telling the leader of a big-name orchestra that it could not perform at a dance hall being boycotted for hiring non-union musicians. In the forefront of the labor organizing movement in Dubuque, Nagele was also a secretary to the Trades and Labor Congress for five years.
