MCKEEVER, Susan Marie Graas
Ms. McKeever received the Permanent Professional Advancement Certification from the Music Teachers National Association in 1995. In order to receive this distinction one must have been a certified teacher for fifteen years. She was the first teacher in Wisconsin to receive this certificate at the Professional Advancement level, which requires a Master’s Degree or equivalent background. This was the latest of many recognitions. From 1974-1976 she received University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music graduate teaching assistantships. In 1973 she received the Redlands Bowl Young Artist Award. In 1972 she was a member of Pi Kappa Lambda, Mortar Board, and Delta Alpha Honor Society, recipient of the University of Redlands School of Music Award for Outstanding Senior, and was named to Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.

The performance took place on July 11, 2013, in Racine, Wisconsin. James and Susan McKeever (the McKeever Duo) also performed the rag at the University of Wisconsin, Bedford Concert Hall, on October 11, 2013, and on October 28, 2013. THE RIDGEFIELD RAG was written in Ridgefield, CT, whose name is referenced in the title of the composition. The rag is in the style of the African-American composer Scott Joplin. The photos of the McKeever Duo in the video are from the two October concerts and supplied by them; the audio is from the premiere in July and supplied by them.
