LAUNSPACH, I. Dale. (Dubuque, IA, Dec. 20, 1932--Dubuque, IA, Mar. 18, 2017). The son of Carl C. and Estelle Mae (Kuntz) Launspach, Dale was the men's tennis doubles state runner-up two years in a row while at DUBUQUE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL. He was the first recipient of a tennis scholarship from the University of Dubuque and played on their tennis team for two years. A dedicated distance runner, he once competed in the Chicago marathon. Dale served in the United States Army in Korea from 1953 to 1955. (1)

With his life-long business partner and brother-in-law, Dick Ludwig, Dale owned and operated ALADDIN DRY CLEANERS for forty-seven years. The company grew from thirty employees to one with 340 people across Iowa. Until 1960, the company had been called DUBUQUE LAUNDRY & DRY CLEANERS. The partners retired in 1999 when most of the operations in Iowa were sold. The Dubuque operation was renamed Premier Linen & Dry Cleaning Services. (2)
