LANGWORTHY, Henry Glover
Langworthy was successful in having the Iowa School for the Deaf at Council Bluffs placed under the supervision of the State Board of Education and served thirty-one years as a director of the Schneider Eye Research Foundation. From 1910 to 1914 he served as the secretary of the Dubuque County Medical Society. Langworty taught nursing classes at Finley and Mercy hospitals; wrote sixty-five articles for medical publications on eye, ear, nose, and throat research; and was an associate-editor of the Physicians' Business Journal.AMERICAN TRUST AND SAVINGS BANK building and organized the FEDERAL DISCOUNT CORPORATION. He was a founder of the Dubuque Kiwanis Club and served many years on YOUNG MEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION (Y.M.C.A.) committees and the board of trustees of the LINWOOD CEMETERY Association. Politically, he served as treasurer of the Young Men's Taft Club in 1908. He was defeated as a candidate for Congress from the Third Iowa District in 1926.
