KOPP'S SHOE STORE. A local joke once went as follows--When seeing a person with new shoes, a person would say, "Did you Kopp (for Kopp Shoes) them? The reply was, "No, I Bott (for Bott Shoes) them."

The 1903 Dubuque County Rural Route Directory and the 1904-1905 Dubuque City Directory located this business at 731 Main.

The 1909 Dubuque City Directory gave the address of this business as 776 Main.

In the 1918 Dubuque City Directory the same address was given for John W. Kopp.
