KLAUER, Carol. (Cuba City, WI, Aug. 7, 1912--Dubuque, IA, September 10, 2006) The daughter of Richard F. and Louise E.(Ripperda) Conlon, Carol graduated from CLARKE COLLEGE in 1933. Upon graduation she taught seventh grade at St. Joseph Catholic School in Elkader, Iowa. She married William J. KLAUER on October 23, 1937, at ST. COLUMBKILLE CATHOLIC CHURCH.

Carol was a member of Nativity Parish, Clarke College Board (over twenty years), Theresians of Dubuque, CATHOLIC MOTHERS' STUDY CLUBS, and was one of the founding members of the Mercy Service Club, where she held numerous positions.

She received the Honorary Degree “Doctor of Letters” from Clarke College and an award from the Eastern Iowa Chapter of National Society of Fund Raising, as an outstanding individual philanthropist.

She and her husband established many scholarships at the Dubuque colleges and various other universities.

By appointment, Carol was a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem – Lady Carol. She was honored for outstanding support by the Indiana Province Congregation of Holy Cross.
