KELLY, Clement. (Harper's Ferry, IA, Apr. 25, 1917--Dubuque, IA, Nov. 8, 1994). Kelly, known as "Shipwreck" for a series of devastating punches delivered in his first C.Y.O. boxing match, scored a record of 6-2 in the C.Y.O. Golden Gloves before entering the military during WORLD WAR II. Fighting in the 160-pound class, Kelly earned many three- day passes from Fort Meade before seeing combat around Berlin, Germany.
