JAMES A. CONCHAR HOME. Located at 1295 Grove Terrace, this home was built in 1889 using QUEEN ANNE ARCHITECTURE for James A. Conchar, co-owner of a wholesale hardware business and nickel-plating company.
In 1910 Judson Keith DEMING purchased and remodeled the home. His half-sister, Kate Keith VAN DUZEE lived with them. In the 1950s, the house became a contract dorm for LORAS COLLEGE and as many as twelve students lived in the four upstairs bedrooms. It has since returned to being a private home.
