JACKSON, Leroy. (Kentucky-Hopkinton, IA, 1885). Early settler. Jackson is said by some historians to have constructed the first brick home in Dubuque. He lived in the community from 1833 to 1840 while operating a real estate business. Later he moved to Hopkinton to trade for furs trapped by local tribes. He was the father of Edward JACKSON.
