INTRILIGATOR, William. (Santa Monica, CA-- ). Music Director, DUBUQUE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA. In 2010, Intriligator was in his tenth season as the Music Director of the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra. A graduate with highest honors in music from Princeton University, Intriligator received the first diploma in conducting from its Program in Music Performance and was awarded the Isidore & Helen Sacks Memorial Prize as the most outstanding musician in his class.
Dr. Intriligator earned his masters and doctoral degrees in conducting at the University of Minnesota. His doctoral degree was the first ever awarded in the Graduate-Apprentice Conducting Program; his thesis explored the influence of early German Romantic philosophers and their beliefs on the orchestral works of Robert Schumann. He led performances with distinguished orchestras including those of Honolulu, Houston, Minnesota, Richmond, Saint Paul, Savannah and Tulsa.
In Dubuque, the symphony under his direction staged opera and ballet productions, large-scale music festivals, family concerts, a chamber series and new education concerts and concepts. The orchestra also presented both local and world premieres.
