HELBIG, Esther. An educator in the Dubuque public schools, Helbig served as the secretary of the Northeastern Iowa Teachers Association. (1) She taught at [[IRVING ELEMENTARY SCHOOL]] in 1927 and in 1928 she was listed as a primary teacher. (2)  
HELBIG, Esther. An educator in the Dubuque public schools, Helbig served as the secretary of the Northeastern Iowa Teachers Association. (1) She taught at [[IRVING ELEMENTARY SCHOOL]] in 1927 and in 1928 she was listed as a primary teacher. (2)  


She was elected president of the Iowa State Teachers' Association in 1929 and in 1930 was a featured participant in 1930 at a meeting of representatives of every Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) in the city. She was serving as the principal of [[MARSHALL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL]] in 1948. (3) The same year she served as chairperson of the legislation committee of the Dubuque Parent Teacher Association, and member of the executive committee of the Dubuque Adult Education Forum.
