HEITZMAN, Wesley. (Dubuque, IA, Aug. 27, 1922--Dubuque, IA, Jan. 1, 2015). The son of William and Lena (Willy) Heitzman, Wesley graduated from DUBUQUE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL in 1940 and from Iowa State University in 1944 with a degree in architectural engineering.
Wesley was president of HEITZMAN CONSTRUCTION COMPANY which he, his father William, and his brother Don established in 1954. Construction by the company included Blades Hall at the UNIVERSITY OF DUBUQUE, WESTMINSTER PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH and many schools and commercial buildings in the area.
Wesley was a partner in J.M. Cardinal, which purchased and refurbished condemned buildings in the 4th Street Elevator area to form CABLE CAR SQUARE. He served on the board of HILLCREST FAMILY SERVICES and the Boy Scout Council, and was a member and elder of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
