HEBREW LADIES BENEVOLENT SOCIETY. Unlike the HEBREW BENEVOLENT SOCIETY, the work of the Hebrew Ladies Benevolent Society was more permanent. Organized in September, 1900 the group later changed its name to the Dubuque Jewish Ladies Aid Society. The group was organized to give relief to stranded women and their children. (1)

The Dubuque Ladies Aid Society became the Sisterhood of Beth El in 1947. (2)
