HANGER, Halsey
HANGER, Halsey. (Carroll, IA, May 16, 1894--Dubuque, IA, July 10, 1950). In 1939, Hanger was elected director of the Iowa Taxpayers Association and served from 1932 until 1938 as a director of the Federal Home Loan Bank in Des Moines. Hanger was a member of the advisory council of the Federal Home Loan Bank board in Washington, D.C. from 1935 to 1936. Hanger president of the Iowa Building and Loan League and held the position of chairman of its legislative committee for six years.
In 1948, Hanger was elected treasurer of the Dubuque Community Chest and served as treasurer of the Chamber of Commerce. Hanger was assistant secretary to the UNIVERSITY OF DUBUQUE board of directors, secretary-treasurer of the board of trustees, and a member of the university's executive committee. He was also a member of the Blue and White Club, a group of business and professional men who supported UD athletic activities. He was an officer of the DUBUQUE AUTOMOBILE CLUB, chairman of the campaign committee for the Masonic Temple, and the time of his death, was the secretary of the DUBUQUE THRIFT PLAN.
