Image title	Published in "Way Back When" on Oct. 24, 1961: The "Eagle Point's" toot-toot was a signal that it was ready for another of its ferry trips across the Mississippi River to Wisconsin -- or Kimbel's Park on an island just below the Eagle Point bluffs. Its endless round trips were made in the pre-Wisconsin Bridge days and it refused to give up in face of the deadly competition given by the new span and lived for some time after. It scheduled a round trip every 45 minutes and had a capacity of 22 teams besides passengers. Ferry boats were in service in Dubuque as early as 1846, when the Dubuque and Dunleith Co. traversed the river between Dubuque and Dunleith (East Dubuque).
