Chosen as the 23rd president of LORAS COLLEGEin 1994, Froehlich came to Loras after serving as president of Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire from 1979 to 1989, working one year as the superintendent of schools for the Diocese of Manchester, and being headmaster of the Woodside Priory School in Protola Valley, California. In Dubuque he served on the board of the United Way and chaired the 1999-2000 annual campaign. He also served on the boards of the GREATER DUBUQUE DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION and JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT OF THE TRI-STATES INC.. He was on the board and chaired the 1997 annual fund for the Carnegie-Stout Public Library Foundation and co-chaired the Campaign for Our Lady of the Mississippi Abbey. (2)
Froehlich served Loras from 1995-2001 when he was named president of Elms College. In the two years he held that position, he spearheaded projects to increase student recruiting resulting in 36 percent growth in enrollment; launched a strategic planning process and began implementing a 10-year facilities master plan; and oversaw a college evaluation that resulted in a 10-year re-accreditation.
