FLORAL PAGEANT. Grand parade during the Iowa Prosperity Celebration. The Floral Pageant, part of Dubuque Day, occurred on October 4, 1916. Beginning at 2:00 p.m., the parade featured ten floats carrying the celebration queens and their retinues. Four bands played and scores of brightly decorated automobiles entertained a crowd described as the largest ever to witness a parade in Dubuque.
A prize of seventy-five dollars was awarded to Mrs. George Myers whose car and its wheels were completely festooned in white flowers. The Moose Lodge entry, winner of the second place twenty-five dollar prize, featured a moose head mounted on the automobile's grille. (Photo Courtesy: http://www.dubuquepostcards.com)
