Everest, Helen Deckert. (Dubuque, IA, Aug. 11, 1898--Dubuque, IA, Dec. 16, 1995). Benefactor. One of the most generous women in Dubuque history, Everest willed more than $550,000 to the UNIVERSITY OF DUBUQUE where she had earlier established a scholarship, over $300,000 to the Finley Health Foundation, more than $300,000 to the DUBUQUE VISITING NURSE ASSOCIATION, and over $300,000 to the DUBUQUE COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY.

The daughter of the owner of W.D. Deckert Company in Dubuque, Everest graduated from the University of Dubuque and earned a master's degree in social work from the University of Chicago. She was married to judge and brigadier general Folsom Everest who died in 1970.
