EDWARDS, James A. (Woodbury, PA, 1846-- ). Edward's father's family came to Dubuque in October, 1854 and then moved to Epworth the following year. James Edwards enrolled in 1856 in the Epworth Seminary and after seven years in the institution enlisted in Company "C" 44th Regiment of the Iowa Infantry during the CIVIL WAR.
Returning to the Dubuque area, Edwards taught in country schools for four years in Peru Township. He then taught three years in Epworth and six in Dyersville.
Changing professions, he began work with Leach, Shewell & Sanborn as a traveling salesman.
