DUBUQUE TRIBUNE. The Dubuque Tribune, the city's first daily newspaper, was founded by A. P. Wood and first published on December 21, 1846. (1) W.A. Adams and A.W. Hackley became its publishers in 1854 and Hackley the sole owner and editor the following year. (2)

The "Tribune" purchased the DEMOCRATIC TELEGRAPH in 1850. In 1857 the Tribune purchased the Dubuque Republican begun two years earlier. The combined newspapers continued as the Tribune until March 1858. (3)
